Our first visit to Bishopstone was on a very cold day in January 2002 and returned in June 2003 on a much warmer day. The church of St. Mary is a Grade I listed building - more information about the listing can be found at the
Historic England website.
Any information given on these pages is taken from the small history leaflet available inside the church.
We have used a few photographs sent to us by Ernest Kent, taken by his distant cousin Hatty Rickards - our thanks to them both. Ernest has been researching the Kent family of this region and tells us these memorials are usually covered by a carpet. The photographs, along with Ernest's transcriptions, can be found on these pages and informs us 'If anyone asks, we are more than happy to grant free use of the photos'. If you want to know more about them, he can be contacted at:
Ernest Kent.
Apologies for the poor quality of most of these photographs - they were actually shots captured from a video camera and have comparitively small file sizes. We do hope to return to take replacement photographs.
