Note about photographs 00917/8 above.
The inscription on the memorial reads: "PO2537 PTE. S. H. Baxter, R.M.L.I. 10-10-18"
We did not reconise this name from the war memorials that are at St. Nicholas so we did a little research. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) does not
have a 'Baxter
' record around this date and the name does not appear on any of the war memorials in Bromham. However, the name of Harry BARTER does appear on memorials at St. Nicholas so we searched for this name at the CWGC. There is a listing for him and it gives the same regiment (R.M.L.I.) as the inscription, gives his wife's name as Winifred and that they lived in Bromham.
If our assumptions are correct, this inscription read: "PO/2527(S) Pte H Baxter, R.M.L.I. 08-10-1918"
