The Poppy Commemoration Wall, along with the mural "Lest We Forget", were in the Brunel Centre in Swindon in 2014. The Swindon In The Great War team worked with the wider community on various projects including this one, to commemorate the start of the First World War one hundred years before.
The Poppy Commemoration Wall was decorated with red poppies and poems about the war. It is significant to see work by local school children and their messages - another generation who will not forget the sacrifices made.
All were invited to write a message on the wall - some remembered their own families and friends in the Great War and some give their thanks for the sacrifices made and the safe return of others. There were also messaged to
named people.
The wall was very moving. One hundred years after the start of the Great War we are still thankful and still remembering.
