The Oasis Leisure Centre is located at North Star in the Ferndale area of Swindon.  It opened in 1976 and is known for its unusual shape, it's wave machine (when it worked!) and the flumes - huge tubes swimmers can slide down before emerging into the pool.

It was run by Swindon Borough Council until June 2012 when a private company took it over.  The local press told us what a terrible state of repair the building was in and it needed at least 20 million pounds spent on it, which the Council could not afford.  In the years since then Swindon keeps being promised a complete redevelopment of the area which will include a concert area, cinema, eateries and a ski slope.  As yet (June 2019) none of this has materialised but we can see a deterioration in the structure.

Our photographs start at the front then go to the right and around the building.  We have included our older photographs (taken from 2004) to show the changes over time.  We look forward to being able to take photographs of the snow dome.
