We heard there were going to be some high-wire walkers at the Spectrum building but were only able to go towards the end of their time there. Unfortunately the storm clouds had gathered and the wind grew stronger which made conditions too dangerous. So we missed most of what had happened during the day and the light was so bad it almost looks like it was night time not four in the afternoon. When it started to rain hard we decided we had had enough and reluctantly left them to it!
However, this group of intrepid youngsters were there for a cause close to their hearts. They were using their skills and time to raise money for and awareness of Performers Without Borders (PWB) - probably best described by themselves in their literature:
PWB was started in 2006 to give children the opportunity to explore their potential. We understand that through teaching performing arts to children their learning, creativity and team working skills are developed. Not only that but it is a huge boost to their self confidence.
In a PWB project the team spend 4 weeks with a group of children, not only having loads of fun and play time, but also tutoring them into creating a performance for their community. Our thanks go to
Jake Hirsch-Holland, who was at one time the World Juggling Champion, circus skills teacher and accomplished slack-liner, for allowing him and his fellow performers to be photographed and put on this page. Our apologies to them for the quality of our photos!
