Blondinis Statue, Swindon, Wiltshire
The Blondinis was created by the late John Clinch from the remaining pieces of metal cast at the Great Western Railway Works in Swindon. What a jolly work of art - the facial expressions of hope and anxiety at their precarious stance, it can't fail to make you smile.
For many years it stood in Wharf Green, a seating area in the Brunel Centre, in Swindon, where sadly it was rather abused with graffiti; it then disappeared when the seating area was re-developed.
We heard it has been moved and found its new location is in St. Marks park, in the Ferndale/Gorse Hill area of Swindon. It looks great now thanks to artist Tim Carol who renovated the statue. We hope it will be enjoyed and treated with respect in its new home.
