Gargoyles at the Church of St. Mark the Evangelist, Swindon, Wiltshire

Back to  Outside Page

We are not sure if a gargoyle must be used to drain water, or if it is just a term for carvings on the outside of churches.  St. Marks church is adorned in many carvings, so we have split them up into three types rather than have them all on one page (which would be very big indeed) - there are these gargoyles, the carvings that appear at the roofline and other carvings projecting from the building.
