Swindon is made up of several parishes and we have photographs of some of those churches as well as some non-conformist places of worship; each church has its own page.   Some of the chapels are no longer used and all that remains to show their original use is a stone tablet above the entrance, or the shape of the windows in the building.   Until the late 1800s the areas of Gorse Hill and Penhill were in the parish of Stratton St. Margaret; with the building of St. Barnabas church in Gorse Hill, these areas no longer came under Stratton's area.
