Victoria Hospital's foundation stone was laid on 21st June 1887 which was the day of Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee.   The building cost £1,960, including furnishings.   Originally there was a male five bedded ward, a female five bedded ward with two cots the children and two beds for emergency use.

In 1993 it became part of the Mental Health Services, specialising in old age psychiatry.

The building is currently being offered for sale for development.
