There seems to have been a market on this site since Swindon began although we are informed in 'The Swindon Book' by Mark Child that the first on this site opened on 15th October 1892.  We can recall a market from our childhood times, then being replaced by this tented market.  It is aptly named Market Street and is next to the Brunel Centre.
