Deacon Street, Swindon, Wiltshire

The first photograph shown below was taken in 2004, stood at the top of the street looking towards the town centre.  Knowing how much of Swindon's buildings are erected and demolished so often, we took another photograph from the same spot nearly ten years after the first.  But, to our surprise, there is hardly any difference!  The only really noticeable change is the addition of a mural to the side of one building (Alexander House).

Even a photograph on Flickr  taken thirty years prior to ours doesn't show much change - just the addition of the Tented Marked and lack of traffic parked in the road.  We are grateful to   Carter Collectables   for their photograph.

Our photographs are a snapshot in time to record a building's history.  Businesses shown may no longer be trading there.
