Plaque in Brunel Centre, Swindon, Wiltshire



This plaque commemorates the opening of the Brunel Centre on 19th November 1976.

The motto "Salubritas et Industria" can be seen on the first two arms, which translates as "Health and Industry".  The first is of the Swindon Borough Council and was granted in September 1901.  The second (green) is of Thamesdown Borough Council and was granted in December 1975.  The third is of Highworth Rural District Council, which should have the motto:  "Magni Consilium Pretii" which translates as "Wisdom is of high worth"; it was granted in March 1968.  For more information about these arms, see:  Civic Heraldry  website (you will need to scroll down to the appropriate sections).
