Plants on Saint Columba's Island, Skeabost, Isle of Skye
We don't usually include as many plants on our webpages as we have this time. This is due to our B&B host Chris Mitchell who told us that rather unusually for Skye, Saint Columba's Island has no sheep grazing on it and therefore it has plants growing there that do not grow or mature anywhere else on Skye.
Chris told us there were different plants growing when he visited at a different time of year, and was interested to see how different they were when we visited in June. If we are on Skye during a different growing season we will endeavour to return and photograph what is growing at that time.
We shall not pretent to know the proper names for these plants as we have discovered that even if we think we know a name, it is usually just a generic name for a number of types of that plant.
