Royal Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire, England

Royal Wootton Bassett, previously named Wootton Bassett, changed its name in 2011 after being honoured by the Queen and given the title 'Royal'.  This is in recognition of the part the town has played in the repatriation of our service men and women who made the supreme sacrifice.

Our photographs start with the Town Hall/Museum and the memorial sculpture "Forever", then are roughly ordered as we walked along the High Street but briefly going into roads/alleys off it as we passed them.

The link (above) to the Wiltshire Collections Entry also inclues a short entry for Fasterne.

Information about Royal Wootton Bassett can be found at the:  Town Council website.

There are many listed buildings in RWB, mostly concentrated along the High Street.  Information about the listings can be found using the Map Search of the Historic England website at:  Historic England.

This plaque is near a seat which overlooks the High Street, just outside the infants' school.  It was barely noticeable and partly covered up.  We think it reads:
