Hankerton was anciently called Hanekington and belonged to the Abbey of Malmesbury.   It is about 2 to 3 miles east of Malmesbury, 10 miles west of Swindon.   Holy Cross is in a lovely open setting surrounded by fields and a few homes, the land being flat and rural
