St. Ninian's Chapel is in a most beautiful setting on the Isle of Whithorn.  According to the information board it is thought this chapel was built around 1300 and replaced a church that was already on this site.

Though built sturdily against the no doubt harsh weather that comes its way, today it is in ruins.  It is difficult not to think of the pilgrims who came to this chapel after landing in the harbour below to give thanks for their safe journey across the sea as they travel onwards to the shrine to St. Ninian.

We visited in November and although one moment the sky was bright blue, the next it was cloudy and the wind very invigorating.  The combination of winter sun and squalls made it very atmospheric.
