The Church of St. Nicholas, Biddestone, Wiltshire

John Aubrey visited Biddestone in the 1660s and his notes of that time tell us there used to be two parish churches - St. Peter and St. Nicholas.  In his time, St. Peter's was 'lamentably ruined, and converted to a barne'.  Our photographs are of St. Nicholas which was built over 800 years ago.

Any facts we give in these pages are taken from the guide leaflet, written by Anthony Emery in 1994, available from the church.

The church of St. Nicholas is a Grade I listed building - more information about the listing can be found at the  Historic England  website.
