St. Giles in Tockenham is in a pretty setting in this rural village. The tower is rather unusual, and there
are curiously placed pieces of wood among the stonework of the walls, near the floor.
You may be interested to read a book written by Mary Waters titled "Come with me.....A Walk Round Tockenham" - in it
she writes about the church and village from the Saxon times to present day. Mary describes it as an observation
rather than history book and it includes many photographs, some going back to the eighteen hundreds. The book costs
eight pounds seventy five pence, plus post and packing, and proceeds go to the Tockenham Fete Fund for the upkeep and
restoration of the church and for village amenities. The book is only available directly from Mary and requests can
be sent to her at:
e:mail Mary.
