We think we have now photographed all the gravestones in Purton churchyard that are still readable.

Some inscriptions are almost impossible to read and, admitedly, we have guessed at some of the names.   We are very sorry if we have guessed incorrectly; please tell us if you notice a mistake so we can make the correction.   Thank you

The churchyard in St. Mary's is quite large and very old.   Some of the graves are inaccessible or the inscriptions are obscured by plants.   Many of the gravestones are very difficult to read and some of the chest tombs particularly are so close together it is almost impossible to photograph the inscription.   If you are having trouble reading an inscription, try downloading the full size photograph and zooming in.   Admitedly even then some are barely readable, but we thought they were worth photographing anyway.

We may have mis-interpreted an inscription so if you know we have a detail wrong, please tell us.
