Sacred to the memory of Catherine, relict of
Major Christopher Dowell, of the 88th Regt. of Foot.
and third daughter of Charles Maxwell, Esqr.
of Dalswinton, near Dumfries. N. B.
who departed this life May 10th A.D. 1844

This memorial is erected by her eldest Daughter
Margaret Eleanor, wife of the Revd. Henry
Philipps, M.A. Curate of this Parish
as a tribute of affection to a beloved parent.

The last remains of the Deceased are interred in
the Church Yard of St. Davids, in the City of
Exeter, where a monument is placed to her
memory by her two other surviving children
Christopher Maxwell and Catherine Jane Dowell
