There is a folder inside the church containing lists of churchyard burials. We photographed each page - 54 in total - and these are below. The lists are in plot number order; we have compiled the information and produced an alphabetical list - our new list also gives the photograph number of the page the name appears on so you can check the entry for yourself (the photograph and page have the same number ie Photo 001 is Page 001.)

The list is made up of different sections - the first section includes the inscription on a gravestone and plot number. The second section is a record of people's memory of where burials took place; a note in the folder reads: "Many of the burial mounds in this churchyard were levelled in 1952, in order to make maintenance easier. It is sad that no record was made of the unmarked graves at the time, when memories of them were still clear but this present list attempts to rectify the omission. It has been compiled with the help of many people and we have tried hard to be accurate; but some graves have been only approximately located and the churchwardens would be glad to hear of any mistakes they might correct." There are also a few records of cremations.

Our alphabetical list combines the information from all the lists kept at the church. We have photographs of over three hundred gravestones and a link from our list will take you to the photograph.

We typed hundreds of names and have bound to made errors. It is sometimes difficult to work out what a surname is and we may have interpretted some incorrectly. If you notice an error please tell us (use e:mail link at bottom of this page). We have noticed a couple of inaccuracies between different sections of the file, and sometimes these differ again to the actual spelling on a gravestone. As a general rule we have taken the spelling on the gravestone being correct.

The first photograph below is of a plan of the churchyard - unfortunately the writing is too small to be read. We shall endeavour to return to East Grafton and make a better copy of the plan.
