Elsie Sarah was born on 20th April 1893, the first of six children born to Sarah (nee Barnes) and William Tydeman.
Elsie was brought up in Swindon with her three sisters, brother and adopted brother. She was an accomplished seamstress, running her own business for a while
and employing several staff.
On 2nd January 1918 she married Samuel Ball, in Swindon, Wiltshire. They lived in Swindon where they raised their two children Muriel and Harold.
Like her father before her Elsie was a commited member of the Methodist Central Hall; she ran the sewing circle and sang in the choir.
Elsie died on 18th April 1964; after cremation, her ashes were laid to rest in the Oxford Crematorium, along with her husband Percy.
