Please Note: We recently discovered a problem with the photo pages; although we have tried
to identify and correct these pages we may have missed some. If you notice a photograph that shouldn't be on
a person's page, please let us know so we can correct the error. Thank You
We have been working hard to create these pages but they are still very much a 'work in progress' so you may find errors
or links that do not work. Please let us know is you find a problem. Thank you
We hope you enjoy looking through our family pages. They have been created from the database of names
we have collected over time, with details and photographs added if known and when available. Sorry this introduction
page is so long, but please do take the time to read it.
You will probably want to see if you are part of our family tree. Go to the
Surnames page first; this will
take you to a list of people with that surname. If you are listed - Hello family member!
If you are listed and do not want us to include you in these pages please let us know and we will remove your name as
soon as we are able.
We have two on-going projects, which are linked, but separate - a family database and these website pages.
Web Pages
Each person in our family database has a page and is listed in the surname index.
We have had to make decisions about what information to publish about living people on the internet. We decided
not to include anything too personal - just names and who related to - as we felt it inappropriate to tell the world more
personal details unless we know for certain you want it included. Unfortunately it does mean you won't be able to
see what information we have about you to check if it is correct but if you contact us we will tell you exactly what
information we have about you so you can correct and add to it if necessary. If you would like to have
additional information put on your page please tell us what we can include it - perhaps you'd like to write a summary
of who you are and we can add your text to your page.
For deceased family members we knew, we intend adding a brief summary of their lives. We have only done this so far
for a couple of people because of time limitations. We decided to put the pages on the website as they are rather
than wait the years it will probably take to write all the pages. As usual, we never seem to have enough time to do
everything we want to.
Family Database
Although we have excluded personal details for living people on these web pages, that doesn't mean we don't want the
information. We would like to collect all the information
you are willing to give us so future generations can read about you. If you are willing to contribute this means
we can build a comprehensive database of our family - what a wonderful gift to pass on to our grandchildren and
great grandchildren etc. In a hundred years
time your great great great grandchildren will be able to read about you and see what you looked like.
So, what do we want to know? Ideally we would like your dates and venues of your birth, christening/baptism,
education, marriage, addresses, jobs; even illnesses would be interesting! (Did you know psoriasis runs in the
Lea family?) Maybe we can add your e:mail address
so other family can contact you (we use anti-spam software). You will not be able to tell us too much information!
Please do not give us details you would not like others to know.
Perhaps you will write and tell us as much as you can about deceased family.
Please ask your (living) family -parents, siblings, grandparents, spouse/partner, children etc - to write to us with
their information.
A few things explained about the web pages.
You will see we have photographs of some family members. We will be pleased to add your photograph to your
page or perhaps you have photographs of family we do not and can send us a copy. For details about
sending us photographs please go to the Photo page.
As you look through the surnames index you may notice some surnames have brackets round them - this indicates we do not
know the person's surname but rather than leave it blank we've put their husband/wife/partner/parents surname in brackets
so we could show a connection. This mainly happens when a woman is married and we don't know her
maiden name or perhaps we do know her maiden name and that she was married with children but we don't know her married
name and thus the surname of the children.
Unless we actually know a marriage took place the husband/wife heading will show as 'Partner'. We are not
particularly happy with this and have toyed with other words such as Spouse/Partner. Please do not assume a
couple were not married just because we have written Partner - it only indicates we do not know whether they were
married or not. Please also remember we are recording a fact, so an entry may show a wife/husband but they
subsequently divorced so are not actually married any more.
As we have collected information we have found many people aren't know
by their official name; some choose to use their second name or are know by something completely different.
We would prefer to record a person's official name and add 'Known as x'.
A lot of our information (particularly about the present day generations) has been given to us by relatives not by
researching through records - this makes the information particularly prone to mistakes.
Spellings of names are a problem and we apologise for the errors we are bound to have made, also for our assumptions
of names - someone known as Bob we will probably record as Robert, but this may not be correct.
It is important we are told of any errors in our spelling and/or information. We won't be able to correct
things if we don't know they are wrong. So if you spot a mistake please tell us.
